Cat named Rowdy caught three weeks after escaping from US airport

A cat named Rowdy has finally been caught after escaping from a US airport for three weeks.

The four-year-old pet has been hiding from airport workers, airline employees and animal experts at Boston’s Logan International Airport since escaping from its cage to chase some birds.

“We’ll never know if it was due to fatigue or hunger, but this morning she finally got herself caught,” an airport spokeswoman said.

The black and green-eyed cat underwent a health check and is now ready to return to her family.

“I kind of couldn’t believe it,” said her owner Patty Sally. “I thought, what are the odds that we’re actually going to get her back?

“But I got a call this morning and I was shocked.”

She added: “This is a community effort. We are very grateful to everyone who helped find her.”

Rowdy returns on June 24th at Ms Sahli and her husband Rich us After 15 years in Germany.

When their Lufthansa flight landed, the cat ran out of the cage trying to catch some birds.

A chase ensued, and her escape sparked a massive search by staff, construction workers and animal welfare advocates.

On a mission to track down the pet, the team used safe-release traps and set up wildlife cameras to try to catch her.

They also delivered Rowdy’s favourite treats to the airport, put them in a cage and even recorded voice notes for them to play, Ms Sahli said in a Facebook post.

Despite numerous sightings, Rowdy continued to elude her pursuers – but has now regained her composure.
